Going to a dentist can be stressful for any child. During the COVID-19 pandemic with social distancing in place and the use of masks mandated in Texas, that dental visit for your child may be even more anxiety ridden.
“We know children can have anxiety about seeing a dentist… especially with their first visit. That is why we work hard to disarm your child by creating an environment build around calming, enjoyable features made just for kids,” said Dr. Lela Farmer lead dentist at Scuba Smiles For Kids.
All children love looking at fish, and that is just one of the many ways Scuba Smiles For Kids tries to entertain its little patients, through the bright and beautiful fish tank they can look at from all four sides. Karina D. from San Antonio loves our ambiance and in a Google Review said, “Best dentist! My daughter loves Dr. Farmer she is the sweetest. The office is clean and entertaining for the kids, we love looking at all the fish. The experience is amazing every time!”
Many children have a fascination with the sea, and that is why there are so many colorful images and why the décor throughout the office which mimics life in the sea. “Kids love to imagine going underwater and swimming side-by-side with a dolphin or swimming to the bottom of the ocean,” said. Dr. Farmer. “That is why our office is so inviting to the little ones.
In a recent Google Review Abigail D. from San Antonio said, “Both my daughters are patients at Scuba Smiles (both under 4 years old). The staff here is awesome! They make my girls feel so much more at ease during their visits. Dr. Farmer is so good at adapting to each child’s needs to provide individualized attention. The atmosphere has a fun ocean theme and it’s very kid-friendly. I highly recommend this practice!”
Even with all of the fun décor, the friendly staff, and the incredible fish tank, once a child gets in that dentist chair, we still need to do our job and explore your child’s mouth with sharp and pointy instruments. Dr. Farmer often takes that opportunity to flex her pipes and sing for her young patients to help ease some of that anxiety and make the appointment more fun for them.
Jennifer C. from San Antonio said on Google, “We absolutely love this place! It was my 3 year old son’s first dental appointment ever and the staff totally exceeded my expectations. Everyone was very friendly from the front office clerk who checked us in, to the hygienist, to the dentist. They all took their time with my son and you could tell they really enjoyed working with children. Everyone at the office made it a fun experience for us and I am very grateful we found such a great dental home.”
Whether you are 5-years-old or 50-years-old, we all love getting something fun after something stressful. “That’s why we give every little patient a prize at the end of each visit,” said Dr. Farmer. “That way they are looking forward to their next visit.”
Jackie O. originally from Seattle recently said in a Google Review, “I took my 2 yr old daughter for her first visit to the dentist and it was great! Dr. Farmer and staff were all kind and explained every little detail of what was happening to my daughter, this helped make her feel comfortable. Also, the fact that there was a prize waiting for her after we were done helped. I highly recommend this place. We can’t wait to go back for a check up.”
