Oral Sedation & Anesthesia
Sedation or anesthesia helps nervous children receive the treatment they need.
With years of experience, Dr. Farmer can determine the best method of treatment for your child. Feel free to ask Dr. Farmer the best approach for your child.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
This sedation, often referred to as ‘laughing gas’, is colorless odorless gas that is breathed in through a nasal hood to reduce anxiety. At Scuba Smiles, a personal nasal hood is provided to each child. Nitrous oxide can be used alone, or as an adjunct with oral sedation. In this way the sedation can be adjusted and titrated for each child.

Pediatric Oral Sedation
For the potentially cooperative child, oral sedation works well. These children can do simple things like cleanings, x-rays, and sit independently for short exams. But, like most children, they have difficulty sitting still for more than 5-10 minutes. An oral medication is given to relax the child and will help them endure longer procedures without getting anxious.
Pediatric General Anesthesia
Dr. Farmer works with an anesthesiologist to provide a comfortable and successful appointment for children who benefit from being asleep for treatment.
